Position: Intentional Interim Pastor (IIP)
Reports To: Hood River Alliance Board
Status: Full-Time – Exempt
Primary Responsibility:
The IIP is charged with the specific, temporary task of guiding HRAC through a season of healing, reconciliation, and transition. The IIP will guide a spiritual discovery process to develop both a theology and practice of what it means to follow Christ, build His kingdom, and see God revitalize a community of believers.
General Responsibilities
· Focus on the preaching and teaching of God’s word.
· Build trust and interdependence among leaders.
· Enhance communication among leaders and within the body.
· Evaluate all ministry systems and structures.
· Facilitate and assist in biblical reconciliation wherever needed.
· Work to correct patterns of weakness in communication and leadership.
· Involve the whole church in a corporate process of revision and refocus.
· Train and coach, the Lead Pastor Search Team.
· Lead the church through specific recommendations from the VitalChurch diagnostic assessment process that was completed in February 2022 and prepare the congregation to transition smoothly to a permanent Lead Pastor.
2023 Ministry Objectives (MO’s):
1. Oversee and implement a change in focus, migrating away from the vocational staff doing the majority ministry to a vocational staff that equips and coaches lay ministers and lay ministry teams. (Ongoing)
2. Update HRAC Staff Job Descriptions with a primary emphasis on coaching and equipping lay ministers and lay ministry teams. (Ongoing)
· All JDs will begin with: Primary/Overall Responsibility: To Recruit, Train, Deploy, Monitor, and Nurture (RTDMN) volunteers and volunteer teams in order to provide meaningful ministry and service opportunities for every active member and attender at HRAC in accordance with HRAC’s values, mission, and vision.
· Followed by consistent coaching appointments with vocational and lay staff members to creatively and consistently build multiplying and interconnected teams in accordance with HRAC’s values, mission, and vision.
3. Identify HRAC Core Ministries that need to be re/built, primarily with lay leaders coached by vocational staff. (This would be my main priority over the next 6-months in addition to building and training a LP Search Team)
