Men

Men learning the Way of Jesus together, side by side and week by week.

A group of men gathered on couches and chairs around coffee in the Hood River Alliance Church Cafe, smiling at the camera

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Proverbs 27:17

What is Men's Ministry?

As men, it's easy to get isolated in the busyness of life. To fight that isolation, we encourage every man to be part of some form of community where we can grow in our faith and encourage one another through life's ups and downs.

We have a few ways for men to meet together for spiritual growth, prayer, support, and fellowship: an early morning study over coffee, and a monthly conversation about the big questions of faith.

  1. Practicing the Way of Jesus,Opening the Scriptures and leading godly lives in a modern world
  2. in community,Sharpening one another, week after week
  3. for the sake of others.Inviting friends and neighbors into honest conversation about faith

Where we gather

Man Coffee

Men. Christ. Coffee.

A strong brew of weekly fellowship for men. We work through short, practical studies that deepen our understanding of God, Christ, and Scripture while learning to lead godly lives in a modern world. Discussion is the heart of it, and the reading is kept light because we're all busy.

Theology on Tap

Question freely. Think deeply.

A monthly gathering of guys who take on a topic of Christian theology over good food and drink, and in good company. Each month has a topic, a short reading, and a printout to guide the conversation.

It's an open and respectful group, and anyone is welcome, especially if you're still asking questions. We're all somewhere along the path of questioning and learning, which makes it a great night to bring a friend.

Frequently asked questions

Who is welcome?

Every man, whether you've been following Jesus for decades or you're just starting to ask questions. Bring a friend.

Do I have to do homework?

Not much. Studies are kept short, usually 8 to 12 weeks, with minimal reading. The conversation matters more than the curriculum, so come even if you didn't get to the reading.

I'm not sure what I believe. Is Theology on Tap for me?

Yes. Our starting point is the beliefs of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, but we welcome every viewpoint to the table. Honest questions make for the best nights.

Where is the Church Cafe?

The Cafe is on our campus at 2650 Montello Ave in Hood River. Coming from the parking lot, enter through the gym doors on the right and follow the smell of coffee.

Who do I talk to?

Brian Prange leads both Man Coffee and Theology on Tap. Reach him at prange.brian@gmail.com or 701-610-6581, or email the church office and we'll help you get connected.
